In terms of Internet and Social Networking services can offend people, as it is free and available to many. With this social network, there are no barriers that limit people on what they actually say. They can say whatever they like and there is nothing to stop it.
An example would be that some days ago, I was watching a soccer match where a player made a bad pass in the last minutes and that pass resulted in the equalized of the opponent team. That same night, I entered the club’s webpage where it talked about the racism abuses that the player had received in his Twitter account. I then tried on getting some more information and I entered BBC and an article was posted. Racism has increased with this type of media because there is no control and it can be untreatable at one point.
John Mikel Obi Twitter abuse condemned by Chelsea
Chelsea have condemned alleged racist abuse received by John Mikel Obi on Twitter after their 2-2 draw against Juventus in the Champions League.
However, the midfielder's profile @Mikel12Official has now been deleted.
"We've informed the police and support taking the strongest possible action," said Chelsea, adding the abuse is "totally unacceptable and disgusting".
The 25-year-old tweeted after the game: "If I want to make up an excuse, I can. But, for me, I gave the ball away. I put my hands up, we move on. I'm sorry about the mistake, but there are no excuses."
Chelsea originally said it was just coincidence that Mikel had removed his account from the micro-blogging website, but later admitted the police had been informed.
During the summer, team-mate Ashley Cole allegedly received racial abuse on Twitter after the full-back missed a penalty for England against Italy at Euro 2012.
